September 2016

"By all these lovely tokens, September days are here, with summer's best of weather, and autumn's best of cheer." -H. H. Jackson

September was a great month for our little family of four!  Lizzie was approaching her 2 month birthday and the weather was fantastic.  The main event of our month was our annual trip to North Myrtle Beach.  Generally we take this trip earlier in the summer - June, July, or August.  But, being due in mid-July, we knew we'd want to wait until Lizzie was at least 8-9 weeks old before traveling much.  Despite the mild chaos that comes with a new baby, I felt it was one of our best beach trips yet!

Lizzie has been a challenging baby in the car.  Car rides, for most of her life, and pretty much filled with ear-splitting screams.  She hates being confined in a car seat and makes sure we all know it.  Because she can be really loud, we've taken to sometimes giving Joseph a pair of headphones to wear to help drown her out, since he's trapped in the back with her (and yes, as she gets older her car tolerance IS slowly but surely improving).  But anyway, a lot of our time going to and from the beach, and driving around while we were down there, was pretty noisy.

A rare quiet moment.

The trip TO North Myrtle...more of the typical situation.

But, with his hearing protection, Joseph is often quite happy to sleep through it.
Both of the kiddos seemed to enjoy our trip, whether it was just hanging out in the hotel...

Lizzie has snuggle time with Daddy one evening

The last day we were there our hotel had a (false) fire alarm.  Joseph was just excited to get all this attention from this pretty firewoman.

At the pool...

This black wrap that I'm wearing Lizzie in is a WrapDuo water wrap.  It has been an absolute lifesaver each time we've taken her swimming in her short life, but was particularly helpful with her as a little 9 week old at the beach.  I was able to easily wear her in the pool and she got to enjoy the feel of the water while being snuggled up to me.  So nice...I'd recommend it to anyone!

Or on the beach...

Yes, under that white hat and black wrap there was a teeny-tiny 6th percentile baby. ;-)

We also went to Broadway at the Beach to ride some rides...

We took in a beach music concert outside of our hotel...

And we ate delicious meals, including this one at Key West Crazy in Little River...

We wore this one out ;-)

Although our beach trip was pretty much the main event of the month, we did manage to make it to Mayberry Days in Mt. Airy the weekend after we got back.  Always a good time at Snappy Lunch...

And I'd be remiss if I didn't throw in a few random pictures, taken throughout the month, of these sweet kiddos in the mix...

That's all for September!  October blog coming tomorrow!!!
