MORE Catching Up to Do, Part 2

"The joy of motherhood comes in moments." -Unknown

What else have we done over the past month?  Well...

I got Jojo's school area read for our homeschool preschool year, which starts tomorrow.  I'm so excited to see all he will learn!

We had a park play date at Lake Daniel Park with the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) Program mommies and children from our church.  Because of Jojo's separation anxiety this will be the first year I'm doing MOPS with Westover.  Even still, he will be staying with my parents when I'm at MOPS sessions (2 Tuesday mornings a month) instead of in MOPS childcare to make the separation a little easier for him.  But I'm so excited to join this group of ladies and deepening my walk with the Lord!

We had a La Leche Family potluck dinner at Country Park this past Friday evening to celebrate National Breastfeeding Month.  La Leche is positively one of the best things I ever got involved in...have so much fun with these mommies and their families!

After the potluck on Friday evening, we got home and got word that one of our good friends was having emergency surgery at Wesley Long to fix a complication from a surgery she'd had earlier in the week.  So we headed to the hospital to hang out with her husband while she was in surgery.  Jojo was as happy in the waiting room of Wesley Long Hospital at 10pm as he ever is anywhere.  Love this sweet child!

Yesterday (Saturday) morning the three of us went to a pro-life rally in front of the Greensboro Planned Parenthood, one of 300 such rallies going on in front of Planned Parenthood locations across the country on Saturday.  I could write an entire separate blog post (and likely will soon) on how the rights of our unborn are without a doubt one of the heaviest issues on my heart, especially recently.  But for now, I'll just leave you with some pictures from our time there.  Everything was very peaceful, and I was thrilled with the amount of support the pro-life cause got that day!

A little later on yesterday, we headed to Sedgefield County Club to catch the Wyndham Championships.  We had a great time, although Joseph decided a PGA tournament is a great venue for a nap.

And finally, I'll leave you with some random pictures taken over the past month!

I took this picture because the coupon section is starting to run fall ads, and that makes this fall-lover WAY excited!

David and I leaving Natty Greene's after celebrating 7 years since our first date there :-)

Beautiful rainbow in the parking lot of Whole Foods one evening

And a sunset as seen from Friendly Avenue on a different night

Jojo and Grayson L. hanging outside of Cracker Barrel after lunch there one Sunday

A little daddy-son roughhousing in between the living room and dining room!

Jojo has YET to successfully use the potty, but his trash truck is getting pretty decent at it apparently.

Jojo has been having trouble sleeping through the night for the past 3-4 months, so a lot of nights he sleeps with us all or part of the night.  Love this cuddle bug!

Taking a nap on Nonie's lap at Green Valley Grill one day at lunch

Whew!  Well there you have it, our life for the past month!  Really, seriously going to try to get back on a weekly blogging schedule for real now! :-)

MORE Catching Up to Do, Part 1

"The days are long but the years are short." -Gretchen Rubin

Last time I did a major catch-up blog post I pledged to get back on a regular weekly blogging schedule, and then I failed at that, too.  :-(  So here I am, back on the blogging horse to tell you what we've been up to for the past month or so!  I'll do two separate posts because there is so much to cover!

On the first Tuesday in August, we went to the National Night Out Potluck in my parents neighborhood.  National Night Out is a neighborhood show of unity against crime and is held across the country on the same day.  Many of the police officers and firemen go around to different celebrations in town, and it's always fun to visit with them and thank them for keeping us safe.  Always a good time, even when super hot (like this time):

A somewhat-rare "Blue Moon" occurred this past month.  We went to a spot about a mile from our house next to a golf course to get a good view.  We just sat skygazing for the longest time.  It was amazing!

We had a good time one Saturday stopping by our local library (The Edwards Branch Library) for some fun:

David in a kid's chair :-)
I got some pictures of my landscaping crew, which I call "Two Guys in Yellow Shirts," working hard on an overcast Saturday morning...

We went to eat lunch on a Sunday after church at "The Moose"

We went with our friends, the Lock's, the the NC Zoo in Asheboro one day.  Jojo, Addison, and Grayson had so much fun together!

Jojo and Addison...such sweet friends!

We went to Highlands, NC, to see David's family!  I tried to take pics throughout the trip.  Here is Jojo being a good little traveler on the way up. :-)

Our first day in Highlands, we drove over to Pigeon Forge, TN, to go to Dollywood.  So much fun!!!

David and our oldest nephew, Ryder

David and his sister, Lindsay, loading Jojo and Bennett up on a ride!
David on the merry-go-round with Ace and Ryder

Our brother-in-law, Ben, riding the scrambler with Ryder and Ace

Jojo took most of his nap in the Tula on my back and a little of it in his stroller...my precious sleepy boy.

Three cousins looking at the camera, one not.

Lindsay and Ryder

I decided to ride this ride with David and Ben and I'm not sure why because it scared me to death.

The three of us on the scrambler

Last ride of the day.  My father-in-law and I sat this one out but the rest of them had fun!!!

We also had lots of restful time at my in-laws house...

Rocky the Wonder Dog watched over Jojo as he naps

Cousin Dinner on the Back Porch

And lots of fun time out and about in Highlands...

Eating ice cream at Asia House BEFORE we really rediscovered that Joseph is still allergic to dairy :-(

Looking for fish in the creek at Sweet Treats

Playground time!

We also went to the recreation center pool one day, and I think all the boys had fun!

On our way back to Greensboro, we stopped at the WalMart in Marion, NC.  This is a regular stop for us when we are returning from Highlands, because Jojo loves the kiddie rides in the Walmart game area. LOL

Stay tuned for Part 2!!!
