October 2016

"Bittersweet October...the mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter." -Carol Bishop Hipps

October is always a busy month for our family, potentially our busiest, and this year was no exception!  Here's a look at some of the things we did!

We went to the Lexington BBQ Festival, where we ate good food and Joseph rode rides...

We also went to the NC State Fair in Raleigh, where he rode even MORE rides....

We were actually at the fair on Joseph's birthday and, in keeping with my tradition, I wanted to get a picture of him the exact moment he officially turned a year older.  So here's a picture of the moment he became a 4-year-old!
By the end of the day we had one worn-out four year old...

And an equally worn-out 3 month old!

Joseph had his four-year checkup with his wonderful pediatrician Dr. Lowe.  He adores her and so do we...

He also had a dentist appointment with his great pediatric dentist, Dr. Andrews!

We also had to make one extra stop-in the Carolina Peds during the month to get Joseph's flu shot and Lizzie's Prevnar shot.  Neither of them enjoyed this experience particularly...I'd say the pictures we took in the car afterward say it all!

Mimi and Poppy came in from the mountains for Joseph's birthday celebration...

The last picture I ever got to take of Rocky...sweet boy passed away before the end of 2016. :-(

And, while Mimi and Poppy were in, Joseph had an awesome Chuggington-themed birthday party complete with both sets of grandparents, his great grandmother, and our friends Jessica and her little boy, J.

Chuggington Cake made by Nonie!

Love this child with every beat of my heart!

David and I celebrated 7 years of marriage at Green Valley Grill.  Joseph stayed with Nonie and Papaw, but since Lizzie was still nursing so frequently she came along with us and slept in the Boba the whole time.  Meanwhile, Joseph got to go to a fundraiser at Red Robin with Nonie and Papaw where one of the GPD officers let Joseph check out his motorcycle...

We went to Junior League's "Touch a Truck" where Joseph got to play in a great assortment of vehicles. :-)  Such a fun event!

And we also went to Razz & Tazz Farm for a day...

We bought a pumpkin of course...

And wrapped up the month with a very fun Halloween night spent trick-or-treating in my parents neighborhood then coming back home to have a bonfire in our own front yard ( which my parents joined us for).
Our candy corn...

And pirate!

In my day I've nursed babies in a lot of different places and situations, but this was my first time nursing a candy corn ;-)

And, because I just love these kiddos, some random pics from the month...

Sometimes the love between siblings is just too much to bear!
Because little boys do things like ride bikes through the living room in their pajamas.

These sweet firemen let Jojo hang out on their truck
Keeping Joseph rear-facing in his car seat until he turned four was always our goal and we made it! (If you're curious about why extended rear-facing is important, please feel free to ask me...I'd love to tell you what I know!)
Proof that you can't wear too much girliness.

The play area at Polliwogs, our favorite children's boutique (and one of the reasons I spend entirely too much time and money there)
Pink for days!
Wow, it's hard to believe, looking back, that we packed so much into one month!  November post coming tomorrow!
