A Big Blessing and National Night Out

“I have an affection for a great city. I feel safe in the neighborhood of man, and enjoy the sweet security of the streets.” –Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Well, as usual, I have been a delinquent blogger. Like a month delinquent. Oops.

But the good news is that I have some AWESOME news to share. David got a new job - again!!! And this one is - get this - PERMANENT. FULL TIME. NOT GRANT NOR CONTRACT FUNDED. WOO HOO!!! He is the new Environmental Health and Safety Regional Manager for LabCorp in Burlington (only about a 25 mile commute each way). So now each morning, I go 25 miles West to Winston Salem and he goes 25 East to Burlington. We couldn't be more happy about God's gracious provision. He has been on the job for over a week now and loves it. Loves the job and loves the people he works with. WOW, what an AMAZINGLY big blessing for us. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I'm so proud of my husband!

At the beginning of August (just a few days before David got this job offer) we went over to my parents neighborhood for their annual National Night Out Neighborhood Celebration organized by their Community Watch organization. It is held at a park at one end of their neighborhood. Our neighborhood sadly has no such get together, but we enjoy partaking in theirs (AND we always bring food to contribute!)

This year the Remax balloon was there to give people tethered hot-air balloon rides! You know we had to do this!!! :-)

Here is what everyone on the ground looked like from our perspective. When we got pretty high, the crowd started yelling at us to kiss each other at the top. So we did of course! :-)

And a view of the trees...

What a hot but fun way to spend a Tuesday evening in August!!!
