August was a fun, albeit hot, month! Here's a look at the things we did!
I took these pictures one Sunday when we were greeting at church. Joseph had gone in to sit down with my parents which is why he wasn't pictured. :-)
We went to Nonie and Papaw's house to watch the solar eclipse. It ended up being super cloudy here so we were able to see exactly nothing. BUT, we had Krispy Kreme eclipse doughnuts and wine, so it was still a win. I should also mention that Lizzie busted her lip right before we went to their house, hence the swollen mouth.
Poor little girl and her fat lip! |
Too cloudy...sad |
But at least we got to watch images from the path of totality on TV |
We spent a pretty Saturday afternoon playing at Fisher Park...
And another at the Greensboro Historical Museum...
Jojo and Lizzie started their homeschool year, which is always so exciting. Joseph is doing the ABC Jesus Loves Me 4 Year Curriculum and is also learning how to read and write. Lizzie is doing the ABC Jesus Loves Me 1 Year Curriculum. And both are doing an etiquette curriculum. So fun!
The was the first day of school, right after he woke up. Proof that even homeschoolers struggle to get back into the swing of the school year |
But he got his act together and was excited to take this picture a bit later. Joseph started on August 21st... |
And Lizzie started the next day on August 22nd |
Joseph has been doing great with learning how to write |
And Lizzie has enjoyed a multitude of things, such as learning about shapes, colors, painting,... |
And coloring! |
One day when Daddy was off work we spent a very hot morning playing at Lindley Park
La Leche League of Greensboro held their annual Live, Love, Latch event to celebrate World Breastfeeding Week. Lots of fun with other area breastfeeding families!
We celebrated National S'mores Day with, you guessed it, s'mores!
We went to Natty Greene's, the site of our first date, to celebrate our 9 year dating anniversary :-)
We joined my parents in their neighborhood for the annual National Night Out Celebration...
Kisses from Ms. Rosann, one of our favorite Greensboro Police officers |
We also toured the Women's Hospital "Cardboard City." Women's is opening their new facility on the Moses Cone campus in the summer of 2019, and they had a cardboard "mock-up" of various aspects of the new facility set up in an abandoned grocery store in Greensboro. I was so impressed by the features the new facility will have, including the first NICU couplet care facility in NC!
Joseph got to add his artwork to the cardboard city |
A tour by VP of Nursing, Sue Pedaline |
We spent plenty of time at the pool...
My parents kept the kids for an hour while David and I had a quick coffee date at Scuppernong Books downtown. Because of Lizzie's separation anxiety, we've been working her up to longer and longer date nights. For our anniversary a couple months later we actually managed to get a couple of hours away!
These pictures below make me laugh. We were at Whole Foods one Friday night doing grocery shopping when Joseph decided he HAD to have a slice of Whole Foods Pizza (not all that uncommon for him). Sadly they were out of the type typically gets, and it was going to be about 20 minutes while they baked another one. He waited patiently, but expectantly, the whole time.
Oh, and another super fun thing about August? At the end of the month we all came down with Hand Foot and Mouth Disease. Such a miserable experience! Joseph got it first, followed by David, followed by Lizzie, followed by me the first day in September. Extra awesome. I don't recommend it.
And, like always, we'll end with some pictures of these two...
Oh how I LOVE to watch them play together! |
This girl loves to rest on her daddy's chest! |
