Our Week in Review 9/29/14-10/5/14

This is going to be kind of a sad blog post, because I cannot get my photos to upload this time from my very old, very dilapidated phone (which will be upgraded next month).  :-(  I have photos from ONE event this week that I was able to upload, but that's because they were taken on David's phone.  So anyway, I will try to summarize our week without pictures.

I had a super cute picture of Joseph yawning just after getting up from a nap.  It was so cute.  But it, like the others, is stuck on my phone.

Bummer.

I also had a picture from our school week of Joseph using some foam "counters" (small little colored foam rubber cubes) that I had bought some time ago.  This week we worked on colors and numbers a lot.  It was fun to see him so interested in it!  But that picture is stuck on my phone, too.  :-(

On Saturday, we went to the wedding of my 2nd cousin, Hope, in Burlington.  She got married at a church in Elon and had her reception at the Diamond Room in Gibsonville.  Hope and her now husband, Robert, have been dating for 6 years and are a very sweet couple.  I DID get some pics at the reception on David's phone, however, I failed to take the time to adjust the settings, and the lighting at the reception did not get along with the default phone camera setting.  But anyway, at least I have some pics!  Joseph was really, really good - very still and quiet - during the ceremony itself (he was wild at the reception but I was okay with that since it was supposed to be noisy there!).  He also ate.  A lot.  David and I were the only people at our table that had to go back for seconds at the buffet, and that is because Joseph ate so much food off of our first plates.  LOL.  Congrats Robert and Hope!  We wish you a lifetime of love!!!

Joseph sits on the lap of Denny, the husband of my cousin, Teresa.  His kids are all grown up, and I offered to let him change a diaper to really "remember" what having a toddler is like.  He declined.  ;-)

Rockin' the sippy cup and taking things in

The last thing I had planned to blog about from the week was a birthday party for our friends (the B family's) two little girls.   E turned 4, and M turned 1, and they had the most precious little party, full of dress-up clothes for both boys and girls and a pinata.  Again...I took pics, but stuck on my phone.  Boo.

Another great thing about this week is that, despite Carolina's HORRIBLE football season so far, Mississippi State, on the other hand, has been amazing.  Knocked off LSU AND Texas A & M recently and ranked #3 in the country.  AMAZING.  So happy we have one team that is doing well!

One random note - this mama has been getting increasingly unnerved by all of the illness in the news right now - colds, flus, enterovirus (and the random paralysis they are seeing associated with some cases), hand-foot-and-mouth disease, and, of course, ebola.  I've been trying to think of natural ways that we can boost our immune systems to try to get through the fall/winter with as little illness as possible.  I'm going to try to work more vitamin C into our diets (yes, we have vitamin c supplements we can take, but vitamins are best absorbed by the body from natural food sources so I'm going to try to do that as much as I can).  I'm stocked up on hand sanitizer.  We will all be getting our flu shots (personally, I have a bit of a complicated relationship with all vaccines, including the flu shot.  I think there are some negative effects associated with them, but, for the most part, I feel more comfortable when we get them).  And I finally broke down and bought some elderberry syrup from Whole Foods this past week.  I have long known of the awesome immune properties of elderberries, but have not, until now, been motivated to actually try it out.  I bought a bottle this past week and we have been taking it daily.  I'm also ordering some "On Guard" from Doterra soon.  Hoping that all of this will keep our immune systems strong!

Hope everyone had a great week!
