"Keep me walking, October road, keep me walking in the sunshine, yeah. A little friend of mine...October road..." -James Taylor
I am SO far behind on blogging, so I'll start out catching up on our 2nd half of October...
I got a picture of Jojo on his last official night as a 2 year old while I was rocking him to sleep...
|
Still two!!! |
And I got a picture of him the next day at 3:02pm, the VERY MINUTE he became a 3 year old. Sweet memories!!!
|
Now three!!! |
On his actual birthday, we also went on a hayride and to a pumpkin patch in Jamestown with our MOPS group. He loved it! Although I had a hard time explaining to him that the hayride was NOT just a big birthday party for him! ;-)

Pumpkin story time at the pumpkin patch |
|
Hayride fun! |
We carved our pumpkin...
And David took a Friday off work so that we could go to the NC State Fair in Raleigh...one of our very favorite things each year!
|
Joseph LOVED the children's rides this year! |
|
And David and Joseph milked a cow with a little help from the NCSU Veterinary Students (and by "David and Joseph milked a cow" I mean that David milked the cow while Joseph sat and watched) |
|
Joseph enjoyed the fair food, including some of David's lamb gyro |
|
And pizza with the cheese removed (my sweet dairy-allergy boy doesn't even realize that cheese on pizza is a traditional things) |
|
It was an unseasonably warm day for October, so little man hung out in short sleeves and a sun hat |
We also went to the Lexington BBQ Festival, another one of our annual traditions...
|
While Daddy ate a BBQ Sandwich and Mommy ate pigtail fries, Joseph chose the healthy route and nibbled on fresh blueberries brought from home. LOL |
|
And he loved the rides at the BBQ Festival, too! |
We celebrated six years of marriage by going to Bravo for dinner while Joseph hung out for a couple of hours with my parents. It was a wonderful anniversary!!!
Halloween was so much fun this year! Our big tradition is to go trick-or-treating for a bit, and then to come back to our house and invite people over for our annual front-yard Halloween bonfire. I don't think we'll ever stop doing this! So fun...we look forward to it from early fall on! (Oh, and incidentally, I was a few days pregnant on Halloween this year and had NO idea! LOL)
|
Late in the afternoon, we went outside to get our bonfire space ready for later that night. |
Then we got Joseph's costume on (he went as a soldier) and David got the joy of doing the face painting!
We stopped briefly by the event at our church, "Pumpkin Bash"...and Jojo got to see his sweet little friend "O," who was a tiger :-)
After spending a few moments at Pumpkin Bash, we headed to my parent's neighborhood for trick or treating. Their neighborhood is just one neighborhood over from ours, and it's known as a very popular trick or treating spot and a neighborhood that loves to decorate for Halloween (it's also a little more well lit at night than our neighborhood, so a safer venue for trick-or-treating). My parents went with us and we had lots of fun!
We briefly stopped back at my grandmother's house so Joseph could show off his candy loot to her...
And then we went back to our house to build our bonfire and make smores (it's also the perfect place to sit to hand out candy to late-night trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood). My parents joined us and so did our friends, the Locks. Thanks to my hubby for always making a great fire!
So there you have it, our October! Post coming tomorrow on our November!!!
