Week in Review 4/20/15-4/26/15

"We are living on this planet as if we had another one to go to." -Terri Swearington

We had a lot going on this week and I did a terrible, horrible, awful job of taking pictures.  :-(  But we had a good week nonetheless!

My mom took these pictures of Joseph waiting for the garbage truck at their house on Tuesday.  I'm borrowing these pictures from her. :-)

Wednesday was Earth Day, and we celebrated on Wednesday morning by going to "Naturally Nature" storytime at one of the local libraries.  Joseph had a great time learning about bugs and nature!

On Friday, David took a half day off so that he could meet the plumber to have some plumbing work done while I went to a doctor's appointment.  Joseph "helped" Daddy mow the back yard!

And afterward, little man was so worn out from the yard work that he crawled right up on the couch and passed out (this all happened while the plumber was snaking our kitchen sink drain, about 20 feet away, which was SUPER noisy).  Joseph slept right through it!

Hope everyone had a great week and is ready to welcome May!

Week in Review 4/13/15-4/19/15

"The April rain, the April rain,
Comes slanting down in fitful showers,
Then from the furrow shoots the grain,
And banks are fledged with nestling flowers;
And in grey shawl and woodland bowers
The cuckoo through the April rain
Calls once again."
-  Mathilde Blind, April Rain

We had some spring rain this week but still managed to fit some pretty fun stuff into the mix!
Nonie showed Jojo how to make "soap bubbles" at the sink, which he loved!  He also loved playing with the little yellow brush in his left hand.

We also got to see some big trucks outside Nonie, Papaw, and Great Mimi's houses.  Anyone who knows Jojo knows that big trucks are some of his favorite things!  On Tuesday we got to see the Lowe's truck when it came to deliver a new grill to Nonie and Papaw...

And just a little while later we got to see the garbage truck come down their street (this done under the protection of an umbrella since it had started raining).  I love seeing the delight on Joseph's face while he watches!

Monday afternoon, we went walking with our friends Miss Jessica and Miss Ginny and their boys in the back side of our neighborhood.  I didn't manage to take any pictures of this other than this one I got of Joseph's buddy James hanging out in his stroller...

This is totally going to be my most random picture for the week, but I think everyone knows how much I love couponing and finding ways to get things for cheap or for free.  This week I managed to snag a free Organic Seeds of Change Caribbean Rice packet.  This makes me very happy.  We had it with dinner one night this week an it was delicious. (told you this was a random picture, but the frugal girl in me absolutely delighted in this find)

On Wednesday morning we went to story time at one of the local libraries, as we sometimes do.  Joseph loves story time.  He generally prefers to sit in my lap and reject the idea of sitting on the floor with a lot of the other kids.  Holding true to our attachment parenting beliefs, I never force him to sit down there if he doesn't want to.  Well this time we waltzed in and, when I asked if he wanted to sit on the floor with the kids, he said yes.  He sat there for about 3 minutes before story time began, then became uneasy and wanted to come back and sit on my lap and of course, I let him.  But I was so proud of my big boy for hanging out on his own on the floor for even a few minutes!

On the floor

Then back in Mommy's lap :-)

Each story time has a theme, and today's theme was libraries and books themselves.  Very fun!
And Joseph was super happy with the sticker he got afterwards!
Wednesday was also a very gloomy, rainy day, but Joseph was quite content to get out and about, especially once snuggled in the Tula.  "MY Tula!" he says (as if one of us is going to try to get in it or something! LOL!)

On Saturday, we went to Nan's School of Dance to celebrate our friend Addison's 5th Birthday Party!!!  So much fun!!!  Happy Birthday, Princess Addison!!!

Prince Joseph and the princesses

While the ladies dance, Prince Joseph is quite content to sit on the floor guarding them with his sword :-)

Icing!  Yum!

The sweet birthday girl and her parents.  Happy Birthday Princess Addison!!!

The weather is getting nicer by the week here in this part of NC...can't wait to see what the rest of spring brings!

Week in Review 4/6/14 to 4/12/14

"If you want an adventure, take a step outside." -Unknown

Outside of a few thunderstorms, the weather was beautiful this past week!  We had a great time getting out and about!

On Wednesday, we met some friends at Country Park for a play date and lunch picnic!

Everyone knows how I love periodically taking pictures of Joseph waking up from his daily nap - he is just so sweet and snuggly around that time.  Here is a picture of my happy boy this week...

On Friday morning, we went with some friends on a preschool nature walk field trip put together by the Greensboro Public Library and held at the Greensboro Arboretum.  Joseph had a great time and especially enjoyed storytime at the gazebo!

He also enjoyed hanging out with his buddy James while we were there!

Friday night, we went bowling with our friends the Locks.  We ate dinner at the bowling alley as well and, after all the fun was over, we probably spent an hour hanging out in the parking lot and talking.  Thanks, Locks, for such a fun filled night!

Addison is one of Joseph's best buddies.  They have SO MUCH fun together!  (Heather, I hope you don't mind that I stole this photo for the blog!)
When we were standing in the parking lot chatting afterwards the three kids had fun playing in the Lock's new minivan. :-)
I didn't get any pictures, but this weekend was absolutely amazing in terms of weather.  It was warm and sunny and nearly perfect.  We took lots of walks and spent lots of time outside in our yard and in the neighborhood parks.  Joseph rode around the neighborhood lake one day on my back in the Tula...I cannot get over how much more comfortable the Tula is than the carriers I was using before.  It was a great weekend!

See you all next week!

Week in Review 3/30/15-4/5/15

"He is not here; he has risen!" -Luke 24:6a

On Monday, I got another picture of Joseph walking around in his daddy's shoes, this time with them on the wrong feet.

Tuesday afternoon, Joseph and I met our friend, Mrs. D, and her little ones K, B, and AR, at the Greensboro Children's Museum for a play date.  The kids had an amazing time!

Joseph enjoyed having his picture made on the giant chair in the front lobby...
As did everyone else in our group!

B and K put on a great play for us in the drama area
And Joseph enjoyed hovering over the pretend citrus fruits in the "supermarket" area...

While K played cashier!
The pretend hospital area was fun, too.  K was so great with Joseph...she really looked after him and led him to all the fun things to do!

On Wednesday, I took Joseph to Belk's so that we could pick out his outfit for Easter Sunday.  Here is my handsome little guy in the dressing room!

Every one in a while, I liked to take a picture of Joseph sleeping via our baby monitor when I catch him in a cute position.  This picture was taken Friday morning...

Friday mid-morning, Mrs. J, one of the mommies at our church, had a ton of the other Westover parents over for an egg hunt in their backyard.  Joseph had a lot of fun, although he learned to open the eggs to see which ones had candy and which ones did not.  It took some time to convince him that the no-candy eggs still were supposed to go in his basket.  Silly boy!

Play time before the hunt started

Easter Bible story time
Hunting!

On Friday evening, we dyed Easter eggs on our back porch.  As we were setting up, our sweet next door neighbor, Ms. Susan, walked over with an adorable stuffed bunny for Joseph that is almost as big as he is!  We had fun visiting with her and Mr. John for a few moments, and Joseph gave them a dyed Easter egg in return.  We love our neighbors!

A boy and his bunny.  Joseph told us Saturday morning "I love dat bunny!"  Thanks Ms. Susan and Mr. John!
Joseph, of course, had to include his beloved "Blue Bear" in the egg-dying process

And here goes the dyeing!

Saturday we went downtown to the Center City Park and the Greensboro Historical Museum.  It was cold and windy but still a beautiful day!  The Greensboro Historical Museum had a very interesting exhibit going on about the Emancipation Proclamation.

Center City Park
Joseph enjoyed learning about Warnersville, a historically African-American community in Greensboro
Another really exciting thing happened Saturday afternoon - we got our Tula!  Tula is a company that makes baby and child carriers for babywearing.  They make a standard Tula, similar to the Boba 3G we have always used to wear Joseph, but they also make a toddler Tula which is bigger and more supportive for older toddlers and preschoolers.  Since Joseph, at almost 2 1/2, shows no signs of giving up being worn, we decided this would be a good investment.  Tulas are 100% handmade in Poland and it took over 3 weeks for our toddler Tula to clear customs in both Poland and NYC and make it to our doorstep in Greensboro.  I was so excited...I saw the mailman coming and ran to meet him in our driveway, all while telling him "I've been waiting over 3 weeks for that package from Poland!"  I'm sure he thought I was insane.  I just love the hot air balloon print...it's even prettier than I anticipated.  And it's so comfy to wear Joseph, on my front or my back!

So, what does one do when their new Tula arrives?  Why put it into action, of course!  I wore Joseph in it around our neighborhood lake and down to our neighborhood park.  Joseph loves to swing on the "big kid" swings while sitting on my lap, and I have to say the Tula makes that much easier!

Joseph loves his new Tula!  I went to move it the other night right before he went to sleep and he cried because I wouldn't put him in it!  I think this was a good purchase!

Easter Sunday was wonderful!  We got up and opened up our family Easter basket...so much fun and we have enough candy to last us until next Easter I'm pretty sure!!

We went to church and heard a great sermon!  Since the service was so packed and our church parking lot was so full we parked at the satellite lot across the street and road the shuttle over to church.  I didn't get any pics of this, but Joseph loved riding the "Biiiiig bus" (which isn't all that big, just a standard shuttle bus, but I guess to a 2 year old it looks pretty big).

After church, we went next door to our neighbor's house (the same ones that brought Joseph the giant bunny).  Some other neighbors down the street had their son baptized Sunday and were having the reception at our next door neighbor's house.  It was great!  Great food, great fun, and great friends!  Joseph had a ball eating and playing with balls and toys!  Thank you Liliana, Jose, John, and Susan for having us!

We ended the day by going to my grandmother's house for an egg hunt and a traditional Easter dinner of ham.  Joseph loved hunting eggs in Great Mimi's backyard!

My mom, crafty as she is, made a super cute Easter table...

Joseph paused for a photo-op with Papaw and Nonie...

And my mom was able to get some Easter pictures of the three of us...

Happy Easter!  HE IS RISEN!!!

On one final note for this week, I can announce with mixed emotions that our final IUI was unsuccessful.  As our journey fighting secondary infertility comes to an end, we wish to thank all of those who have encouraged us and prayed with us over the past two years.  We have some pretty exciting options in the works in terms of building our family from here, and I'm hoping to announce more about all of that soon!  Please keep us in your prayers as we seek God's will on how He wishes to bring more children into our life!

Everyone have a great week! :-)
